Emterra superheroes make waves in the community

From humble beginnings, a team of Emterra superheroes arose, becoming a beacon of joy across communities and driving away those COVID-19 blues. Their fame has grown and grown, inspiring others to follow their lead and even catching the eye of Canadian media.

But where did it all begin? On the ides of March, the dynamic trio of Brian White (aka Captain America), Brad Sandquist (aka Spiderman) and his arch-nemesis, Robert Osborne, decided to sweep through their route of Abbotsford, British Columbia fully costumed.

Being in the industry for years and knowing full well the unsavoury reputation of sanitation works amongst the public, this was an opportunity to win over hearts and minds. With the closures from the COVID-19 pandemic shackling children to their homes, the moment was now. Our intrepid heroes sprang into action. Swinging from the back of a garbage truck and posing with a shield in hand, the team thrilled many, all while keeping public safety top of mind.

No longer just ordinary swampers/loaders and a driver, their colourful antics earned them an appearance on Global and CBC News. Clearly, their good deeds could no longer be contained.

Inspired by their actions, a new breed of heroes sprung up in Oakbank, Manitoba. In a comic universe crossover, Superman (Johnny Smasher), Flash (Devin T.), Captain America (Darnell H.) and Deadpool (Ashton B.) teamed up along their respective routes. It wasn't long before our champions gained a following, as news of their work spread throughout the town like wildfire, dominating the local radio airwaves and filling up the Oakbank Facebook page.

What does it all mean? Unprecedented times can lead to unprecedented outcomes. Emterra team members went above and beyond their normal duties, not seeking personal glory but only a chance to share a smile. In the end, they succeeded in doing so much more.
