 Residential Recycling Pickup

Household recycling pickup follows a scheduled collection day set by your municipality. Emterra collects residential recycling in communities where we hold the municipal contract, so your schedule and accepted materials are determined by your city or region.

To check your collection day and what goes in your bin, visit curbside collection.

FAQs About Recycling Collection Services

What are Recycling Collection Services?

Recycling collection services are scheduled pickups of sorted recyclable material from a property, delivered to a processing facility for recovery rather than to landfill. Programs are set up around the type and volume of material a site produces, and the collection frequency needed to keep it contained. Emterra provides recycling collection for households, businesses, and municipalities across British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

How Much Does Commercial Recycling Collection Cost?

Commercial recycling pricing depends on container size, collection frequency, material type, and location. There is no flat rate because a site producing two bins a month and a site producing daily cardboard volume need different service plans. Request a quote and an Emterra representative will price the program against your actual volume.

How Often is Recycling Collected?

Frequency is set by volume. Residential curbside collection follows the schedule set by your municipality, usually weekly or biweekly. Commercial collection is scheduled around how quickly your containers fill, ranging from a single monthly lift to multiple pickups per week.

What Materials Can Be Recycled Through Emterra?

Accepted materials vary by province and by the municipal program in place. Most Emterra programs accept paper, cardboard, and rigid plastic, metal, and glass containers. Materials such as electronics, tires, batteries, and hazardous waste are handled through separate streams. Confirm accepted materials for your location before setting up service.

Do You Provide the Recycling Bins?

Yes. Emterra supplies containers as part of the service, sized to your program. Options range from household carts and totes to front-end bins, roll-off bins, and compactors for higher-volume commercial sites.

Which Areas Does Emterra Service?

Emterra operates across British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Service availability varies by community, since residential collection depends on the municipal contract in place. Confirm coverage for your address on our locations page or when you request a quote.
