Focus on reopening Emterra Environmental recycling facility after small fire

April 30, 2018

There was a small fire at Emterra Environmental’s material recovery facility late this afternoon in Burlington, Ontario.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire that was confined to the tipping floor and Emterra expects to resume operations as early as this week. There were no injuries. Company officials are co-operating with fire officials to determine the cause of the fire.

Safety at the workplace and the well-being of our employees and customers are a primary concern for Emterra. We have one of the very best safety records in the industry because we work with employees to ensure we are constantly reviewing and enforcing policies, processes and procedures to ensure the safety of all workers.

We will be working with our customers to minimize service disruptions.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.
