Taking care of business

Taking care of business

Emterra Environmental may often be thought of as the company that collects curbside waste, recycling and organics. While we do, do that, an important and growing part of our company is our ICI (Industrial, Commercial and Institutional) business. This is where we collect and process waste, recycling and compost in the big green bins (front end, roll off and compactors) at locations across Canada and the State of Michigan.

As an organization, we’ll haul our customer’s material away, but that’s not always our focus. We want to provide an opportunity for our customers to be environmental stewards. That means working with them to develop waste management best practices, producing quality recycled commodities for end-markets and working with our customers to help them achieve their waste reduction goals. This may include auditing services to create baseline measurements for our customers' waste diversion achievements.

In Peel Region in Mississauga, Ontario, we just launched a new ICI business. Shawn Beer is the Territory Sales Representative. He’s been in the industry for a number of years and says there is a difference with Emterra’s approach.

“Emterra Environmental is a one-stop shop,” explains Shawn. “Other organizations collect your material and haul it to someone else to process and they can’t always tell you what happens to it and if it "actually" gets recycled. But, at Emterra, we handle this ourselves, which means we not only collect your material, but guarantee that it gets recycled.”

This approach allows us to eliminate the middleman, offering more transparency, improve pricing and customize environmentally friendly diversion programs.

If you’re interested in modernizing your waste and recycling needs and decreasing the amount of waste you’re sending to landfill, let us know. We’re always open for business! Contact Us!
