Thousands of children and adults rely on Winnipeg Harvest every month to get enough to eat, and each year the need for more food grows. As part of our Community Care™ program, Emterra has partnered with Winnipeg Harvest to expand its Community Gardening Programs so that kids and adults have access to nutritious, locally-grown food. Demonstrating innovative reuse, many of the growing gardens are in recycling blue boxes that were no longer needed when the city converted to rollout carts for waste and recycling. But the initiative doesn’t end there.

Through Winnipeg Harvest’s food growing program, they teach their food bank clients how to grow their own food, helping them make good food decisions and building horticultural skills that last a lifetime.

Emterra has pledged to provide $60,000 in sponsorship funding over three years to support Winnipeg Harvest’s Community Gardens projects. To find out more about this Emterra Community Care™ program and the announcement of the sponsorship grant, click here.
