It is Shred-A-Thon time again in Chilliwack, BC. This Saturday, June 4, 2016, Emterra Environmental along with our partners, the City of Chilliwack, Cottonwood Mall, Shred-it and The Salvation Army of Chilliwack will be hosting the semi-annual event in the Cottonwood Mall parking lot. The Shred-A-Thon will run from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Local residents are being invited to bring personal documents and paperwork to be shredded and securely recycled at no charge. Emterra, on behalf of the Salvation Army, will be accepting food and cash donations for those who wish to contribute. As well, Emterra will continue its tradition of matching residents’ cash donations up to $2000, to help the Salvation Army of Chilliwack better enhance support and resources for those who need it.
The Shred-A-Thon has been running in Chilliwack since 2009 and it has always had a great response from the community.
“Through the event over the past five years alone, we’ve raised over $21,000 and donated 14,000 pounds of food to the Salvation Army of Chilliwack,” says Paul Knight, Operations Manager of Emterra Environmental’s Chilliwack Division. “On top of that, close to 64,000 pounds of paper have been recycled thanks to this event. That’s like saving nearly 550 trees.”
The next Emterra-Chilliwack Shred-a-thon will take place in early December.
