Emterra Group Named One of Canada’s Greenest Employers for Eighth Year in a Row

Oakville, ON, Apr. 18, 2023 - Emterra Group, a leading Canadian waste management and resource recovery company, has been named one of Canada's Greenest Employers for 2023. This prestigious award, administered by Mediacorp Canada Inc., recognizes employers who lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness and action. This is the eighth consecutive year that Emterra Group has won the coveted title.

“Naturally, sustainability has always been a core value of our business. We’ve understood that creating a circular economy would mean managing the delicate balance between our social, economic and environmental responsibilities,” says Paulina Leung, Chief Sustainability Officer. “Winning this title for eight years in a row validates the work our team does every day to create and deliver products and services that enable people and businesses to become stewards of the environment and the future. It is truly a testament to our continued strength in thinking innovatively and finding opportunities to transform waste into resources.”

Emterra Group was selected for the award based on a range of environmental initiatives, including: 

• Working alongside 70 other Canada Plastics Pact partner organizations in developing a formal program to help Canadian companies divert millions of tonnes of plastic waste (estimated to be 3 million tonnes in Canada) from landfills and the environment, and back into the Canadian economy. 
   
• Partnering with local organizations to heighten awareness and increase access to resources for waste reduction -- such as the "Make Your Contribution at the Curb" initiative that features a $1 donation to a local organization for each tonne of material recycled by businesses and residences. 
   
• Significant infrastructure investments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its fleet operations with compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and three CNG refuelling stations that have been made available to the public and other companies 
  
  

One of the factors that sets Canada’s Greenest Employers apart from others is their commitment to engaging employees in their environmental programs, tapping into their teams’ skills and passions to drive initiatives forward.
