Emterra Environmental continues to strengthen its partnership with Metro Vancouver and the communities we service with the grand opening of the new Central Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre on September 9.
This one-stop drop-off facility will make recycling and waste disposal more convenient for the region's residents and small businesses. Emterra Environmental will manage the operations of the site while supporting Metro Vancouver’s climate change objectives, namely its targeted reductions in emissions by 2030 and goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.
“With a 64-per-cent diversion rate, Metro Vancouver is already a North American leader in waste reduction and recycling,” said Sav Dhaliwal, Chair of Metro Vancouver’s Board of Directors. “As we strive to reach our regional goal of an 80-per-cent recycling rate, this new facility will play an important role in Metro Vancouver’s efforts to reduce waste and move to a circular economy.”
In support of these goals, Emterra Environmental has also purchased all electric and electric-hybrid mobile equipment for this location. This is an important milestone for Emterra as we strive to demonstrate environmental leadership in everything we do and reduce our own emissions.
Emterra continues to deliver high operational and safety standards for three other recycling and waste facilities we operate on behalf of Metro Vancouver in the region - North Shore, United Boulevard in Coquitlam, and North Surrey.
