Tire Recycling
It's estimated that among the 12 million discarded tires generated each year in Ontario, less than half are recycled. Emterra Tire Recycling (formerly Canadian Eco Rubber Ltd.) is the only company in southwest and central Ontario that both collects and recycles discarded and un-saleable tires in an environmentally responsible manner. Through innovative proprietary technology, tires are processed – never burned or landfilled – into clean and marketable raw materials suitable for the manufacturing of new products.
Our Commitment – The Emterra System
The Emterra System is a clean, efficient and environmentally sound method that recovers and recycles 100% of each tire. No emissions are produced during the recycling process. Through ambient shredding and grinding processes, core components of the tire are released and separated:
- Fibre (polyester or nylon)
- Steel
- Resulting rubber crumb is contaminant-free and produced in various grain sizes
- No emissions produced during the recycling process
Each 24-pound tire Emterra recovers yields 12 pounds of high quality rubber, 6 pounds of steel and 4 pounds of fibre.
