Divisions

Emterra Group currently has four divisions, each specializing in a different waste diversion service:

Emterra Environmental (formerly Halton Recycling Limited and International Paper Industries)

Residential and Commercial Recycling & Disposal

Emterra Environmental provides comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable resource recovery services under our Zero Waste philosophy to our residential and industrial, commercial, and institutional customers. We have 8 Blue Box Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) in British Columbia, 2 in Manitoba, and 2 in Ontario. Through our MRFs, we can offer customized waste diversion programs for any service schedule and waste stream – including single stream recyclables. Only a handful of single stream recycling plants exist in Canada, and by the end of 2008, Emterra Group will have 3 – the most for any one company in the nation.

Emterra Tire Recycling (formerly Canadian Eco Rubber Ltd.)

Tire Recycling

Emterra Tire Recycling is one of only 3 companies in Ontario that collects and recycles discarded and un-saleable tires. Through innovative proprietary technology, we provide sustainable recovery of this valuable resource. The tires we recover are converted – never burned or landfilled – into clean and marketable raw materials. The Emterra System of processing is a clean, efficient and environmentally sound method that recovers and recycles 100% of each tire we receive.

Halton Recycling Ltd. Newmarket Organics Facility

Organics Processing

Halton Recycling Ltd. Newmarket Organics Facility has been processing residential source separated organics (Green Bin) from the City of Toronto since October 2004. A valuable product of our unique processing method is biogas, which is high in methane. This methane is captured during organics processing and used to produce green electricity. The electricity powers the entire plant, while the excess is sold back into the Ontario Power Grid, making the Newmarket Facility more self-sufficient

Canadian Liquids Processors Ltd.

Product Destruction and Liquid Waste Recycling

Canadian Liquids Processors Limited has extensive experience in all aspects of product destruction, ethanol production and waste water treatment resulting in effective and environmentally conscious recycling.

The benefits of having CLP handle product recalls, production overruns, marketing mistakes and other product destruction needs include:

  • Confidentiality - Information on why, how much, and where never reach the public
  • Security - Products are typically destroyed within 48 hours. We can cater to special security needs on request, including witnessed destruction. With 24 hour video monitoring and live security, products that come to CLP stay at CLP
  • Environmental-Responsibility - All packaging and liquids are separated and recycled
