Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk
Division: Canadian Liquids Processors
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
Reports To: Senior Accountant


A. Job Purpose:

To process purchase orders and vendor invoices on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy and procedures.

B. Specific Accountabilities:

  1. Match purchase orders confirming prices and quantity to vendors’ invoices.
  2. Verify receipt of material or services/confirmation of receipt of material or services.
  3. Check accuracy of employee reimbursement expenses before processing.
  4. Enter invoices in accounting system for payments ensuring correct approval, coding and matching.
  5. Coordinate with vendors regarding invoicing and payment inquiries and discrepancies.
  6. Respond to vendors inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Process cheque runs and set up on-line payment batches for the accounting team.
  8. Ensure compliance to Company policies and procedures.


C. Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

  1. Postsecondary education an asset. 
  2. Minimum of 3 years prior accounts payable experience in a high volume environment.
  3. Proficient with MS Excel and Word.
  4. Experience with Great Plains or SAP an asset.
  5. A customer focused approach to dealing with internal and external stakeholders. 
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
